Norman Rockwell Museum
The Norman Rockwell Museum is a museum dedicated to Norman Rockwell's art in Stock bridge, Massachusetts. It houses the world's largest collection of original Norman Rockwell art. In addition, the museum hosts travelling exhibitions of American illustration.
History
The museum opened in 1969 in Stock bridge, Massachusetts, where Rockwell spent his final 25 years of life. Originally housed on Main Street in the Old Corner House the museum relocated to its current location 24 years later, opening to the public on April 3, 1993.
The current museum structure was designed by New Classical architect and 2011 Driheaus Prize winner Robert A. M. Stern.
The museum houses the Norman Rockwell Archives, a collection of over 100,000 items, including photographs, fan mail, and various business documents, in addition to 574 original works of art by Rockwell. The Famous Artists School donated its archives to the museum in 2014, including process drawings by Rockwell, who was one of its founding faculty members (in 1948).
