Whipsnade Wildlife Zoo

Whipsnade Wildlife Zoo

Whipsnade Wild Animal Park is a zoo in Whipsnade, Bedfordshire, England, near Dunstable. It is a companion facility to the London Zoo and is owned by the Zoological Society of London (ZSL). The largest wildlife park in Europe, with over 2,500 animals, the majority of which are endangered species.

The site has a total area of 2.4 km2 ( 600 acres ). A massive white lion-printed hill figure is carved into the slopes of Dunstable Hills, making it easy to spot from a distance or from above. The park first opened its doors in 1931. It was Europe's first open-air zoo, designed by Sir Peter Chalmers Mitchell (ZSL Executive Director 1903-1935) as a centre of conservation efforts. Peacocks, maras, and other animals are kept on a large site.and wallabies are allowed to roam freely in the park The Garden (and ZSL) receive no financial support, rely on Gift Aid, and rely on large charitable donations. As of 2006, the entry fee for adults is £13.50 in the winter and £15 in the summer.

Validity of tickets

Tickets purchased online (with the exception of Flexi tickets) are only valid for the date specified. Tickets do not guarantee car park entry, and parking fees (or Whipsnade car entry) are not included in the price. Tickets are non-transferable to other attractions or individuals and may not be resold without ZSL's prior written consent. If anyone tries to enter an Attraction with a resold ticket without ZSL's written consent, ZSL may refuse entry and no compensation will be paid to that person.
