Art from Mexico
The collection, which includes paintings, pottery, and devotional objects, reflects the art of the region during the Spanish occupation.
Drawing in the Galleries
Challenge yourself or your students to look at what you saw. Bring your own pencil and sketchbook; EPMA will supply the gallery materials.
The El Paso Museum of Art was founded in 1959 in response to a need to house a significant donation of European Baroque and Renaissance works to the City of El Paso by the Samuel Kress Foundation. Botticelli, Canaletto, van Dyck, Zurbarán, and Artemisia Gentileschi, among other Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance masters, are represented in this collection. This seed collection grew to include over 7000 works over time. EPMA relocated to its current location in the heart of El Paso's Downtown Arts District in 1998, less than a mile from the Juárez Bridge.
