Chazen Museum of Art
The Chazen Museum of Art is a public art museum in Madison, Wisconsin. Known as the Elvehjem Museum of Art until 2005, it collects highly analysed works for pedagogical purposes and is affiliated with the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Collection
The museum houses works by European artists such as Joan Miró, Auguste Rodin, Barnaba da Modena, Andrea Vanni, Giorgio Vasari, Hubert Robert, Thomas Gainsborough, Benjamin Williams Leader, Eugène Boudin, and Maximillian Luce, as well as works by American authors.
VISIT
The Chazen Museum of Art is open to the public and to the campus on a daily basis. There is no admission fee. The Chazen Café is located at 750 University Avenue, just inside the museum's entrance. The Wisconsin Union operates the café, which is open daily and serves a wide variety of hot and cold drinks, snacks, and lunch items. You'll also find a unique selection of retail items and gifts, many of which are inspired by the museum's permanent collection and travelling exhibits. The museum receives 100% of the proceeds from retail items.
HOURS OF THE MUSEUM
Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
