About the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum
The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is located in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, located in downtown Nashville, has been dubbed the "Smithsonian of country music," owing to its broad cultural impact, educational mission, and unparalleled collection of historically significant country music artefacts. The Museum, established by the state of Tennessee in 1964, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum first opened on Nashville's Music Row in 1967, and moved to its current downtown location in 2001. The Museum unveiled a $100 million expansion in 2014, more than doubling its footprint. The Museum now spans 350,000 square feet and includes exhibition galleries, archival storage, retail stores, and event space. In addition, the Museum has the Taylor Swift Education Center for students, teachers, and families, as well as dedicated performance spaces in the CMA Theater and Ford Theater, both of which host nationally recognized live music and cultural events on a regular basis.
