Bass Museum
The Bass Museum of Art, located at 2121 Park Avenue in Miami Beach, is an art museum.
It was founded in 1963 by the city of Miami Beach to house the John and Johanna Bass Collection, and it still occupies the old Miami Beach Public Library building. It is regarded as one of the city's most important museums, alongside the University of Miami's Lowe-Art Museum, the Wolfsonian-FIU Museum, the MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art), and the MAM ( Miami Art Museum ).
The permanent collection focuses on Renaissance and Asian art, containing works by Cornelis van Haarlem, Peter Paul Rubens, Ferdinand Bol, Benjamin West, Armand Guillaumin, Jacob Jordaens, Gerard Seghers, Giovanni Barbagelata, Hans Makart, and an altar by Botticelli and Ghirlandaio.
