Science Museum Oklahoma

 Science Museum Oklahoma

Oklahoma City's Scientific Museum Oklahoma is a science museum. The Kirkpatrick Planetarium, the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame, and a variety of specialist exhibitions are housed in the museum. The complex is about 390,000 square feet in size, making it one of the largest science museums in the country. It opened in 1958 as the Kirkpatrick Planetarium, with major expansions in 1980, 1985, 2000, and 2007.

The Science Museum Oklahoma began in 1958 as the Kirkpatrick Planetarium, which moved to its current location at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds in 1962. The Oklahoma Science and Arts Foundation was constructed on the fairgrounds later that year. In 1978, the foundation changed its name to Omniplex Science Museum and relocated with the Kirkpatrick Planetarium to the newly constructed Omniplex Science Center.

The Oklahoma Air and Space Museum debuted in 1980, followed by the Kirkpatrick Gardens and Greenhouse in 1985, and the OmniDome Cinema, Oklahoma's first large-format, dome-screen theatre, which opened in 2000. Omniplex was renamed Science Museum Oklahoma in 2007. The museum has undergone considerable refurbishment since the renaming, adding various new exhibits and galleries, including a kid-friendly space display and art galleries.

Camps
The school year is over, but the learning continues! For families in the Oklahoma City metro area, the Science Museum Oklahoma provides wonderful camps. In the winter, spring, summer, and fall, the Science Museum Oklahoma provides camps for children ages three to six. Camp topics change with the seasons, and camps never repeat a day, guaranteeing that your young scientist has a unique experience at each camp session. In the spring and summer, weeklong programmes are held, while shorter camps are held in the fall and winter.

SMO 21
It is not only for children to have fun. This after-hours event is reserved for adults 21 and above – each SMO 21 has a different theme with exciting hands-on experiences, admission to the whole museum, food options in the café, and a cash bar. It's all the fun of SMO, but no children are permitted. To mention a few, training goals will include simulated missions, correct management of space objects, and rocket launch testing. You'll learn to deal with temptations like a DJ spinning a hot song, cash bars seducing you with specialty cocktails, exhibitions with goals other than your purpose, and various costumed astronauts and aliens.

If you decide to participate in advanced training, VIP access begins at 6:30 p.m. and includes a specialty beverage as well as access to the VIP departure lounge. You'll get access to advanced training and a special party exclusively for you. Because these training passes are limited, act immediately. This portal is where you may get your pass:

Tinkerfest
Tinkerfest is a one-day celebration of innovation and curiosity! Tinkerfest takes over the whole museum and grounds, bringing together makers, artists, craftspeople, engineers, and educators to demonstrate how their many abilities intersect. Have you ever fixed something that broke? Have you experimented with a recipe? Have you ever taken something apart simply to see what was inside? That's called tinkering!

SMO Garden
The Science Museum Oklahoma Gardens are made up of native and Oklahoma-proven species. There is a children's garden, a herb garden, a native plant garden, a Monarch Waystation, a vegetable garden and orchard, a water garden, a Japanese garden, a hobby greenhouse, lawn games, large picnic tables, miniature excavators, and much more!

The gardens at SMO are normally a peaceful haven with picnic tables and four lawn areas ideal for a picnic or lawn activities. The gardens are frequently an excellent choice for sensory-sensitive clients who want a calmer, more consistent atmosphere. The grounds are accessible via Pavlov's Cafe via the entrances on the Science Floor's south central side.

Guests will learn about gardening techniques, upkeep, and follow along as gardens and grounds personnel care for the SMO Gardens during SMO's regular What's Growing On presentations.
